🤝 CTDC Collaborates with UCL Global Citizenship Programme
Last month, the Centre for Transnational Development and Collaboration (CTDC) had the pleasure of working with a group of interns from the UCL Global Citizenship Programme.
Their time with us was marked by:
✅ Deep engagement
✅ Critical thinking
✅ Meaningful contributions to our advocacy and research efforts
🎥 Video Project: Spotlight on the Greater Maghreb
One of the key outcomes of the internship was a compelling video project exploring the experiences of marginalised sexual communities in the Greater Maghreb.
The video also examined the legal and social challenges faced by LGBTQI+ asylum seekers, bringing visibility to a deeply underreported aspect of forced displacement in the region.
📌 Strengthening the Regional Advocacy Action Plan (RAP)
The interns also played an active role in supporting CTDC’s Regional Advocacy Action Plan (RAP).
They developed a research-informed funding application aimed at expanding CTDC’s operational reach and capacity for regional impact.
📚 Research-Driven Advocacy
Through a blend of legal and socio-political analysis of the MENA region, the interns identified key obstacles to sexual rights advocacy.
Their work proposed actionable strategies grounded in community-based approaches—closely aligned with CTDC’s grassroots advocacy model.
💬 Reflections from the Team
“My time with CTDC has been an invaluable opportunity.
The fact that CTDC as an organisation exists is amazing, and your approach to advocacy really allowed me to see beyond the disillusionment surrounding academia and NGOs.
There is hope.”
— Antonia Lee, UCL Global Citizenship Intern
We are proud of this collaboration and grateful for the insight, passion, and professionalism the interns brought to our work.
Their contributions are a testament to the potential of youth-led research and interdisciplinary partnership to advance justice and equity across the MENA region.
